2018-2019 Provisional Project

In 2018-2019, Junior League of Jackson Provisional members will spend a year learning about the mission and structure of our organization and its approach to service, culminating in one large joint project. “Destination Education: A Passport to Literacy, Health, and Development” will be held in May of 2019 to conclude our Provisionals’ year. Destination Education will allow all Provisionals to work together throughout the year on a single project, while simultaneously bringing awareness to and supporting the local community partners and positively impacting the children who attend the event.

During Destination Education, students will have the opportunity to visit different activity stations that focus on one of the League’s three impact areas as defined in the League’s Issue Based Community Impact Model. Small groups will be tasked with planning and supporting each individual activity. After participating in all stations and activities, student attendees will receive a voucher for their required summer reading books. When these books arrive at the participants’ homes after the event, they will serve as a reminder of the importance of learning, and how the Jackson community values the education of its youngest members. This year-end project will provide Provisional members with the opportunity to learn about the core mission and values of the League before beginning their Active membership.
