Community Projects

Holly Lange, Community Vice President

The Junior League of Jackson has played a vital role in our community for 70 years. The League has initiated two signature projects: The Children’s Cancer Clinic in The University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children and the Mississippi Children’s Museum. While those are two of the most high-profile projects we have supported, there have been many more projects throughout the League’s history that successfully impacted the lives of women and children. Our volunteers are committed to each project for one simple reason: to help those who need it most.

This year, the Junior League of Jackson will place more than 500 Active members and over 145 Provisional members as volunteers in 34 projects in the Metro Jackson community.  These volunteers will provide more than 33,000 hours of community service to children and youth.  Projects include building a house in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, helping teens prepare for the ACT college preparatory test, providing meals to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House and teaching children about healthy eating habits. These are just a few examples of the outstanding initiatives the League takes to make a difference in our community.

To learn more about our projects, please click one of the three project service area icons: Arts & Education, Health Services or Social Services.  There you will find out more about each of our community projects and the community partners who support us in our efforts.

Working together, we will continue our mission of developing the potential of women, promoting voluntarism and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
