Fund Development

Margaret Cupples, Fund Development Vice President

Thank you for your interest in the Junior League of Jackson and its fund development businesses.  Through four vibrant businesses, our League raise s money to support dozens of community projects that make a positive difference for countless individuals in greater Jackson.  Our fund development businesses are led by exceptional volunteers who, like all of the members of our League, build on our strong tradition of service through our mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Bargain Boutique, our upscale resale shop, is located in Jackson’s Colonial Mart shopping center.  After more than 15 years in operation, it has a proven track record of serving the community by offering top-quality second-hand clothing, accessories, and housewares at affordable prices.  To join Bargain Boutique’s E-mail list so that you’re among the first to hear of store specials and deliveries of terrific items at great prices, click on the Bargain Boutique link on the home page of our web site.

Junior League of Jackson Publications stands on the shoulders of giants – the League’s two nationally acclaimed cookbooks.  Southern Sideboards, published in 1978, and Come On In!, its award-winning companion cookbook first published in 1991.   More than half a million cookbooks later, JLJP is now focusing on its children's book, The Year of the Stars, which debuted in November 2006.  A perfect partner for the launch of the Mississippi Children’s Museum in 2010, The Year of the Stars was written by a team of JLJ Active members and illustrated by Mississippi's own Wyatt Waters.  To purchase a copy through our web site, just click on the link for Junior League of Jackson Publications.

The Keystone Fund, launched in 2009, is an investment fund for the League which will function as our "rainy day" fund.  The Keystone Fund gives members of the League and the community an opportunity to make memorial or honorary donations, as well as accepting future or deferred gifts (gifts as a part of the donor's estate, through insurance policies, etc.).  As a keystone is the central stone that supports an archway, The Keystone Fund is a strong foundation that supports the League’s future.  Please consider a gift to The Keystone Fund as a special way to mark a League member’s birthday or other important event!

No discussion of the Junior League of Jackson would be complete without mentioning Mistletoe Marketplace, the largest charity fundraising event in Mississippi.  Mistletoe Marketplace celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2010, truly a year of milestones and memories.  Each November, it brings together more than 160 merchants across the U.S. with more than 35,000 shoppers, for a shopping and special events extravaganza!  Begun in 1980, Mistletoe Marketplace is the primary fundraiser of the Junior League of Jackson; and, like each of our fund development businesses, it is a critical part of the League’s ability to support our projects and work in the community.

Each of our businesses is managed and operated by League volunteers; although Bargain Boutique also has paid staff members for daily operations, all of the businesses are member-supported and member-driven.  We appreciate all of our volunteers for every hour of their time and every dollar that they give to our fund development businesses, and we are especially grateful for strong community support and corporate involvement in these businesses, as well.  For more information about our fund development businesses, click on the links for each business on the home page of our web site, or contact Margaret Oertling Cupples at 601-592-9914 or
