Fund Development

Charlotte Seals, Fund Development Vice President

Greetings!!  Thank you for your interest in the Junior League of Jackson.  To successfully meet our mission of improving our community, the Junior League of Jackson operates  four fund development businesses.  Monies raised from these businesses support the thirty plus community projects that we implement each year, as well as our signature projects such as the Children's Cancer Clinic at UMC and the MS Children's Museum.

Our fund development businesses are organized and led by outstanding volunteers that, like all of our membership, have made a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others by positively impacting our community.  The 2013-2014 year promises to be another exciting one for each of our Fund Development Businesses.

Bargain Boutique, our upscale resale shop located in Jackson's Colonial Mart Shopping Center, continues to meet the needs of our community by providing quality, gently worn clothing, accessories, and housewares at affordable prices.  From prom dresses to pottery, you are sure to find great merchandise at an even greater price.  To join the Bargain Boutique email group for notification of store sales and special events, please click on the Bargain Boutique link located on the homepage of our website.

Junior League of Jackson Publications began as a League Fund Development Business in 1978 with the publication of the popular cookbook, Southern Sideboards.  In 1991, the companion cookbook, Come On In, was published.  Both of these publications have received national recognition and are household favorites throughout the South.  In 2006, understanding the importance of children's literacy, JLJP took a new direction with the publication of a children's book, The Year of the Stars.  This charming book was written by JLJ volunteers and illustrated by local artist, Wyatt Waters.  Click on the link for Junior League of Jackson Publications to purchase a copy of The Year of the Stars.  JLJP continues to focus on the importance of literacy and will host its  second annual Books and Authors Event on Feb. 27-28, 2014.

Mistletoe Marketplace has become Mississippi's premier shopping event.  In its thirty-third year, always held during the first week of November, this magical event truly has something for all.  Located in the Trade-Mart Building in Jackson, Mistletoe Marketplace is now considered the  kick-off for the holiday season and is the largest fundraiser for the League.  Merchants from across the country and shoppers from all over the south convene for a three day shopping extravaganza that includes fantastic special events sure to entertain and enlighten all that attend.

This year, the Junior League of Jackson is pleased to present its newest Fund Development Business - Touch a Truck.  The event is scheduled for April 26th and will bring a variety of vehicles to a safe location where children can explore and experience these vehicles, while learning about their importance in serving our community.  Please check our website periodically for updates and  more information about what is sure to be a unique experience for the entire family.

For more information about each of our fund development businesses, and our Keystone Fund which supports the long term sustainability of the League, click on the link for each of businesses on the  homepage of our website.  Through the effective action and leadership of trained  volunteers, our fund development businesses provide the monetary resources needed to serve our community.  Thank you to our volunteers, community partners, corporate sponsors, and JLJ supporters for making our community a better place!!

Sincerely,
Charlotte A Seals
