LAKEYSHA ISAAC, 2017-2018 FUND DEVELOPMENT VICE PRESIDENT
Thank you for your interest in supporting the businesses of the Junior League of Jackson.
To generate the vital dollars necessary to support our philanthropic activities, the Junior League of Jackson operates three fund development businesses and maintains a charitable fund. Funds raised by these businesses directly support the 30 community projects that we implement each year and provided key funding for the start-up of our two signature projects: Mississippi Children’s Cancer Center at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children and Mississippi Children’s Museum.
Our fund development businesses are organized and led by outstanding volunteers who, like all of our membership, are committed to making a difference in the lives of others by positively impacting our community. We are excited about the great opportunities that will be afforded to children in the metropolitan Jackson area and throughout the state of Mississippi as a direct result of our 2017-2018 fundraising efforts.
Entering its 37th year, Mistletoe Marketplace is Mississippi’s premier holiday shopping destination. This magical event is held the first week of November and truly has something for everyone. Located in the Trade Mart Building in Jackson, Mistletoe Marketplace is considered the kick-off for the holiday season and is the largest Fund Development business for the League. Merchants from across the country and shoppers from all over the South come together for a three-day shopping extravaganza that includes fantastic special events sure to entertain.
The League’s newest fund development business is Junior League Jumble, which serves as both a fundraiser and a community project. This February event promises to offer great bargains in its fourth year as the ULTIMATE rummage sale. The event-packed weekend begins with the fabulously casual Reveal Party fundraiser, continues with the early-risers Peek and Purchase, and culminates with General Shopping hours. Truly the ULTIMATE Rummage Sale, the Jumble has outstanding deals on gently used merchandise including furniture, appliances, home decor, adult and children’s clothing and so much more!
Touch A Truck® Jackson also serves as both a fundraiser and a community project. This event rolls into Trustmark Park in April with over 45 vehicles, construction equipment, and exhibits for children to CLIMB, EXPLORE and TOUCH. Touch A Truck® Jackson begins with Field Trip Friday, which hosted over twenty-five schools from across the state with 2500 students attending in 2017. The “wheelie” good time continues on Saturday with our early access Big Wheel VIP event (including breakfast and shorter lines), and continues with general admission throughout the day. Touch A Truck® Jackson is truly a unique experience for the entire family.
In addition to our three fund development businesses, the League maintains Keystone Fund–a charitable fund which supports the long term sustainability of the League. A donation to Keystone Fund is an ideal gift in honor of those whose lives have been touched by the Junior League of Jackson. Gifts made in honor of a birthday/anniversary, as a memorial or during the holiday season will not only honor the person who is recognized, but will also support meaningful projects in our community.
Our fund development businesses provide the monetary resources needed to support our community partners, increase our community outreach efforts and provide valuable leadership training for our members–who donate over 50,000 hours of their time each year. For more information about each of our fund development businesses and about our Keystone Fund, click on the link for each on the homepage of our website.
Our hearts are grateful for our volunteers, community partners, corporate sponsors, and JLJ supporters. Our community is a better place because of you! We look forward to your continued support.
